Volunteering to achieve lasting impact

Our community investment program focuses on innovative partnerships to support the issues that matter to our people and our local communities.

We develop strategic partnerships with ground-breaking and innovative organizations to support them to successfully deliver their goals and scale their impact. Focusing on strengthening the rule of law and making progress towards the UN SDGs, our four strategic themes inform our work: advancing racial justice; empowering women and girls and supporting youth; supporting innovation in environmental protection and advancing our sustainability goals; and external crises and change.

Our people use their professional skills to offer support where there are gaps in knowledge, resources, and funding. Our local work supports our global aim to drive inclusive and sustainable development in which people and planet thrive.

Strategic Partnerships

WaterAid

We have joined forces with international charity WaterAid in a three-year partnership that will see the firm get behind the organization’s mission to end the crisis that currently leaves more than 770 million people in the world without access to clean water close to home.

Our partnership with WaterAid works to advance progress towards the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with a particular focus on Goal 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation). Access to sustainable and safe water, sanitation, and hygiene underpin almost all other areas of development, and as the effects of climate change are increasingly felt, innovative climate resilient technologies are not only essential to the wellbeing and success of communities, but also the safeguarding of economies.

We are providing pro bono legal advice, volunteer support, and unique fundraising and awareness initiatives. Funding from Hogan Lovells will also go towards the delivery of climate-resilient WASH services in the Cuamba District of Mozambique—one of the most climate-impacted countries in the world and where more than a third of the population lack access to clean water.

Rewilding

Giving nature space to heal itself – rewilding is an innovative way of restoring Europe’s nature. It champions the idea of letting nature take care of itself, revitalizing degraded landscapes by enabling natural processes to shape land and sea. Our partnership with Rewilding Europe intends to serve the scaling and further development of large-scale rewilding of landscapes across Europe as we support Rewilding Europe on their mission to rewild 1,5 million hectares of land and seas by 2030.

Hogan Lovells lawyers across Europe have collectively provided more than 1,500 hours of pro bono (free of charge) legal advice to Rewilding Europe in the Netherlands as well as its member organizations in the UK, Spain, Italy, France, Germany and Poland so far. In addition, to support local rewilding areas and create a rewilding movement, a series of short documentaries about rewilding actions in the field were produced with the financial support of Hogan Lovells.

Hogan Lovells is supporting a pioneering initiative to make Europe a wilder place. Rewilding is a systematic approach to transform vast land areas into wild nature.

Global Humanitarian Partners

A key challenge for organizations delivering emergency aid is the need for immediate funds to mobilize quickly. By committing to annual planned donations, we enable those operating in disaster-stricken areas to focus on providing their help and expertise during times of crisis.

We work with:

Our partners have the capacity to respond to humanitarian emergencies globally, are guided by principles of impartiality, and are experts in delivering in one or more of these priority areas during humanitarian emergencies: i)health care ii) emergency shelter/cash assistance iii) women and girls/ children; iv) safeguarding human rights v) displacement.
