Fighting Youth Unemployment in Germany

Empowering youth to achieve brighter futures through mentorship and support

Hogan Lovells has partnered with JOBLINGE since its founding in 2008, supporting its mission to fight youth unemployment and create sustainable change. The JOBLINGE initiative provides disadvantaged unemployed youth in Germany with tailored mentoring, training, and opportunities for long-term placements in apprenticeships or jobs, enabling them to lead self-determined lives.

Through a six-month program offered by JOBLINGE, young people unable to find suitable jobs or apprenticeships are referred by job centers as a final opportunity receive customized support and career development. Over 15,000 individuals have already transitioned into vocational training thanks to this impactful program.

This partnership aligns with our Responsible Business themes, particularly for empowering women and girls and supporting youth. In addition to Hogan Lovell’s pro bono legal advice and €50,000 in sponsorship across German offices in 2024, we also support through dedicated volunteering and mentorship initiatives. For an example, see the story of Hogan Lovells counsel Silvia Tomassone and her mentee Lara here. Together, with pairings like this, we are helping young people across Germany secure brighter futures.
