Miguel Ángel Mateo Simón advises clients on corporate, commercial, and regulatory matters with a particular focus on the energy industry (in both the hydrocarbon and power sectors, including renewables).
Miguel Ángel provides advice to national and foreign companies, mainly in energy (oil and gas, power, and renewables) and water projects. He constantly advises sponsors, lenders, and even the Mexican government in all the stages of said projects, including their planning, financing, development, implementation, and execution. Likewise, he actively participates in corporate and commercial transactions, such as mergers and acquisitions and corporate financings. As a consequence of the Mexican Energy Reform of 2013, Miguel has been actively participating in advisory projects with both national and foreign investors looking to participate in the Mexican electricity market (in both conventional and renewable projects) and has provided advice in the transition of the prior regime to the new electricity framework.
Miguel Ángel previously worked as a foreign associate in the Aberdeen office of a multinational firm, where he concentrated on oil and gas upstream projects.
