Hogan Lovells named top law firm in Law360’s Social Impact Leaders rankings
Washington, D.C., 30 November 2023 – Global law firm Hogan Lovells has been named the nation’s top law firm by Law360 in its Social Impact Leaders ranking, established to identify the law firms that are taking the greatest strides in social responsibility. The top spot for Social Impact was critical in the firm being ranked first out of 100 top law firms in Law360 Pulse’s overall Leaderboard, also announced 28 November.
The ranking measures five “pillars” of social responsibility - racial and ethnic diversity, gender equality, employee engagement, pro bono service, and responsible business. Hogan Lovells climbed one place in the overall index, having been placed second in 2022. Among the top ten firms, Hogan Lovells was also ranked first in the responsible business category.
While Law360’s Social Impact Leaders ranks firms across a number of areas, Hogan Lovells has had a particularly strong year on the pro bono front. Among other leading cases, the firm represented Common Cause in one of the most widely watched voting rights cases, Moore v. Harper, successfully argued before the U.S. Supreme Court by partner Neal Katyal. The firm was the first major law firm to form a stand-alone pro bono practice, and devotes more than 150,000 hours per year to pro bono work per year to support ground-breaking social developments focused on access to justice and the rule of law, and to achieve lasting impact for others.
Another important area of focus for the firm is our progress surrounding DEI. For example, 58% of the firm’s promoted partners in 2023 were women, the highest percentage in the firm’s history.
Anna Kurian Shaw, the firm’s global managing partner for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), said: “The firm’s focus on DEI is critical to our people, our clients, our community and our high-performance culture. It’s important for us to be a market leader in this area and we’re happy to be recognized as such.”
