Hogan Lovells CEO Miguel Zaldivar attends White House reception in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month

“It is a great honor to have been invited by the President of the United States to celebrate Hispanic Heritage at the White House with such a select group,” said Zaldivar, who is one of few Latino leaders of a major law firm.

“As I reflect on my own journey, I am also grateful for the incredible impact our Hispanic and Latino colleagues have every day. These contributions have woven themselves into the fabric of our society, and they continue to drive innovation, progress, and growth.”

In many ways, Zaldivar’s journey personifies the Latino experience. Born in Venezuela, where his parents settled after fleeing Cuba, he originally practiced law in Venezuela. Having been a Fulbright scholar, Zaldivar eventually moved to the United States to earn a J.D. degree while working during the day, propelling his successful legal career in America.

Before becoming CEO, Zaldivar served as co-head of Hogan Lovells’ Latin American practice, co-leader of the firm’s Infrastructure, Energy, Resources and Projects practice, a member of the Board, and Regional Managing Partner for the Asia, Pacific, Middle East region.

“I am constantly inspired by how our firm embraces the values of family, hard work, community, and service—values that resonate deeply within the Hispanic and Latino cultures," Zaldivar said.

Hogan Lovells is one of Washington, D.C.’s oldest and largest law firms, and this month the firm marks the 120th anniversary of its D.C. office.

Having lived and worked on four continents, Zaldivar’s experiences have helped shape his deep commitment to increase the diversity of the firm’s partnership, management team, Business Team leadership, and he has introduced various initiatives for a more inclusive work environment.

Zaldivar is personally committed to a number of the firm’s philanthropic activities, including leading the firm’s work with not-for-profit Santa Marta Group, which is focused on eradicating human trafficking and modern day slavery. This work contributed to Zaldivar earning the 2024 Courageous Leader Award from the Council of Urban Professionals.

Hogan Lovells is celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with events across the firm to honor the rich cultures, histories, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino communities.
