8 July 2024 – Hogan Lovells partner Akima Paul Lambert has been appointed to the International Court of Arbitration, representing Grenada.

Akima Paul Lambert commented: “I am pleased to have been elected as a member of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Court for the mandate 2024-2027. It is all the more meaningful as I didn’t start my career in arbitration and came to it from a litigator’s lens. I fell into it by opportunity and passion so therefore have not come through the paces in the usual way and via the usual accolades or via the same practice. And here I am.

“This role is therefore an incredible opportunity to serve - to offer diversity of perspectives, to contribute to the global business community and to uphold the values of fairness and integrity in international arbitration. I am deeply grateful for this honor and look forward to working with all my colleagues around the world to promote justice and transparency in our international dealings. In my capacity as member for Grenada, I look forward in particular to promoting arbitration and the work of the ICC in the Caribbean more generally.”

Akima has significant experience acting for financial institutions, corporations, and professional firms in litigation and arbitration proceedings arising out of commercial, banking, and financial disputes. She holds the BBBA Senior Leaders Award for Professional Services (2021), an inclusion in The Lawyer’s Hot 100 list (2022) and has been listed in the Yahoo-sponsored EMpower List (2020-2023). She is also a co-founder of Creating Pathways, a mentoring program for black and minority lawyers.

Members of the ICC Court are appointed by the ICC World Council, upon recommendation of ICC local offices known as national committees and groups, or upon proposal of the Court President. The Council includes representatives from the global business community (national committees and direct members) who convene annually. The full list of Court Members can be found here.
