Maeghan Murphy skillfully counsels clients on a broad range of sophisticated real estate transactions, including debt and equity real estate financing, across a wide range of asset classes.
Maeghan maintains a broad-based transactional practice, focusing on the financing, development, construction, acquisition and disposition of multifamily and senior housing, office, industrial, retail, hospitality, experiential and mixed-use projects throughout the United States. Her financing work includes lender and borrower-side representation on construction, mezzanine and permanent loans.
Maeghan also has experience representing financial institutions in connection with the formation of real estate joint ventures, the origination of warehouse lending facilities and the financing of affordable housing projects.
Prior to joining Hogan Lovells, Maeghan was an associate at another international law firm. Maeghan received her J.D. from Columbia Law School, where she was a notes editor for the Columbia Human Rights Law Review and advocated for state and federal legislation as a clinical student in the Health Justice Advocacy Clinic. She was also named a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar.

Represented a real estate investment firm as lender on a US$435m mortgage and mezzanine construction loan for a mixed-use project consisting of warehouse and studio production space in New York.*
Represented an institutional lender as the junior mezzanine lender on a US$410m acquisition and construction loan for a development site in lower Manhattan.*
Represented an institutional lender in connection with a US$80m construction loan for a retail and office redevelopment project at the historic Domino Sugar Refinery in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.*
Represented a healthcare company on a sale-leaseback and US$236m mortgage financing of 40 medical office buildings in seven markets.*
Represented a global infrastructure investor in the sale of a 60 MW hydroelectric portfolio.*
Represented a mental health services nonprofit in the negotiation of a 15-year property lease with the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York and the NYS Office of Mental Health.*
Represented an investment firm in the formation of a joint venture to acquire and rehabilitate a portfolio of New York City Housing Authority properties.*
Represented an institutional lender in connection with a construction loan for an affordable housing project in East Harlem reserved for unhoused LGBTQ youth between the ages of 18 and 25.*
