Megan James is a Counsel in our market-leading Corporate Trusts practice.  She acts for trustees, custodians, and other service providers on the full range of debt capital markets and loan products, with a particular focus on special situations.

Megan advises on new money deals, post-close amendments, restructurings, and distressed or defaulted debt. She also has extensive experience advising service providers on large scale remediation and restructuring projects, such as LIBOR remediation, Brexit-related business reorganisations, and sanctions due diligence.

Megan gained invaluable experience from her time seconded to the Corporate Trust legal team and the Restructuring team at two leading corporate trustee providers.  She employs that experience to anticipate trustee and agent concerns and to offer up creative solutions.

Advising the security agent, first lien notes agent and second lien notes trustee on the restructuring of the bank and bond debt of the Frigoglass group

Undertaking a large-scale due diligence project for a leading corporate trustee in relation to its sanctions exposure 

Advising a leading provider of capital markets and loan transaction services on the transfer of agency roles across a large portfolio of transactions, as part of a Brexit-related reorganisation 

Advising the security trustee and facility agent in relation to the restructuring of a trade receivables financing for a European logistics and supply chain corporate

Undertaking a large-scale LIBOR diligence project for a leading corporate trustee and transaction service provider
