Mizue Kakiuchi has over twenty years of trademark and patent experience and advises clients on a wide range of issues involving multijurisdictional IP enforcement and portfolio management including patents, trademarks, unfair competition, copyright, designs and utility models, oppositions, non-use cancellation, invalidation trials, appeals, infringement litigations, IP due diligence, and consultation. Her diverse cross-border practice includes advising Japanese and international clients on both inbound and outbound patent and trademark matters. She also counsels companies regarding brand and reputation protection as well as counterfeits and custom control issues.
Mizue draws upon her international experience as well as her intellectual property law experience to assist her clients with IP portfolio management and IP enforcement around the world. After graduating from the Waseda University School of Law, Mizue earned her LLM in Intellectual Property Law from the George Washington University Law School. She is a Japanese qualified attorney (bengoshi) and a Japanese qualified patent attorney (benrishi) with an international perspective. Her professional affiliations include the Intellectual Property Section of the Legal Research Institution of the Dai-Ichi Tokyo Bar association
Throughout her career, Mizue has also worked on data privacy, commercial, and M&A matters.
