An experienced litigator, Doug Crosno focuses principally on insurance coverage disputes. Clients rely on his knowledge in a wide variety of insurance matters, including fidelity and crime policies, directors' and officers' liability, fiduciary, property, errors and omissions, health, and cyber liability insurance coverage issues.
Although he has represented clients in federal and state trial and appellate courts in numerous jurisdictions across the country, Doug also provides advice on ways to avoid litigation and minimize liability exposure.
Doug's practice is not just limited to insurance, however. Over the years, he has handled a broad range of cases, including complex commercial disputes, copyright, employment, lender liability, personal injury, and professional malpractice claims.
Doug's nearly 20-year legal career started before he went to law school, when he worked as a paralegal for a leading intellectual property rights firm in Washington, D.C. He also served as a research associate for the Association of Trial Lawyers of America.
While in law school, Doug served as an editor of the University of Virginia Law Review. Prior to joining the firm, Doug was a law clerk at the National Labor Relations Board.
Representative experience
Lead lawyer for insurance company that prevailed in a lawsuit concerning coverage for a US$13.4m claim brought by a law firm in receivership.
Represented a law school that obtained summary judgment on an age discrimination claim.
Lawyer for insurer that won in an appeal involving liability insurance coverage for more than 30 lawsuits filed against a gun manufacturer.
Represented insurance company in the successful appeal of a coverage dispute arising out of the collapse of the accounting firm Arthur Andersen.
